This week's featured Military camping facility is the Hurlburt Field FamCamp in Florida! The Hurlburt Field FamCamp is nestled between Panama City and Pensacola, and is less than a 30 min drive west of Destin, FL.
The campground offers 48 paved RV sites with full water, sewage, and 30/50 amp hookups, as well as tent sites with no utilities and some overflow sites with no hookups. Leashed pets are allowed in the campground, and some restrictions apply. This FamCamp is open year-round.
The campground does not take reservations and sites are assigned only on a first-come, first-served basis, so you may want to call ahead for an availability outlook. Come in, find a space, then check-in. If you arrive after-hours, check in with the FamCamp office the following day. Hurlburt Field FamCamp offers laundry, a dump station, and a dog waste station.
Hurlburt Field is about five miles from the FamCamp. Base amenities include a Commissary, an Exchange, a Fitness Center, a dog park, and a fishing pier. Hurlburt Field is also home to Gator Lake Golf Course, conveniently located one mile from the campground.
Adjacent to Eglin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, Florida, you can enjoy the Air Force Armament Museum, which is the only museum in the world dedicated to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting artifacts and memorabilia associated with the Air Force Armament and its delivery platforms. The Gulf Coast offers plenty of relaxing activities, from white sandy beaches to hiking trails. If you are looking for excitement, check out the numerous water parks in the area!
