Toledo Bend Recreation Park is a major recreation site located approximately 30 to 40 minutes from Fort Johnson (formerly Fort Polk) on the Toledo Bend Reservoir in Louisiana.
Here at Toledo Bend Recreation Park you'll find two RV parks (an old and new), tent sites, and cabins available to rent. Cabins have their own grill and fire pit, but you must provide your own linens. Cabins sleep up to 5 and have central heat/air, ceiling fans, full baths, and fully-equipped kitchens. The old RV park provides water, electricity and a dump station and showers, while the new RV park provides water, sewage, electricity, laundry and showers. Each lot at both RV parks have their own grill. If you're staying on the weekend, you must reserve both Friday and Saturday.
Being that Toledo Bend Recreation Park is right on the Toledo Bend Reservoir, you'll also find boat rentals and a fishing dock. A marina offers pontoon and bass boats for rent, kayaks, paddle boards, and a gas station. The reservoir has 1,200 miles of shoreline and the lake has an area of 185,000 acres! Plenty of swimming, boating, picnicking, fishing, and play areas are here for the whole family to enjoy.
If you are E-4 and below, there will be a 20% discount on pricing available to you. Reservations can be made in person or over the phone. Active duty and their dependents can reserve up to 6 months in advance, while all others (retirees, disabled vets, DoD-Civ) can reserve up to 3 months in advance. This park is also open to members of the community, however, they must go through a vetting process through the MWR Membership Program.
At the Toledo Bend Welcome Center, there's a store that sells fishing supplies, ice, beer, sodas, snacks, charcoal, and more. There's also a small café that sells pizzas, sandwiches, wings, and refreshments!
