As of October 1, all visitors to the country will now need to apply and be approved for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority e-visa (NZeTA) at least 72 hours before boarding their flight, or they risk being denied entry to the country altogether. The new rule applies even to visitors from visa waiver countries, such as the United States, Canada, and the UK, as well as cruise ship passengers, and even fliers who are just connecting through New Zealand.
