Pope Army Airfield, NC | Featured Military Space-A Air Terminal of the Week

This week's featured Space-A air terminal is the Pope Army Airfield (Pope AAF) AMC Passenger Terminal. Pope fairly often receives flights both into and out of the terminal. Recent flights include Joint Base Andrews in MD, Joint Base Lewis-McChord in WA, Travis AFB in CA, Dover AFB in DE and Joint Base Charleston in SC. Pope Army Airfield is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and there are plenty of things to do and see in the surrounding area. Here are some suggestions:


  1. Fayetteville Area: Explore the city's historic downtown area, visit the Fayetteville Museum of Art, and stroll along the Cape Fear River.

  2. Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg): Take a guided tour of the largest military base in the world, which is located adjacent to Pope Army Airfield.

  3. Airborne & Special Operations Museum: Learn about the history of airborne and special operations forces at this unique museum.

  4. Cape Fear River Trail: Take a scenic hike or bike ride along the river, which offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

  5. Fayetteville Swamp Park: Explore the swampy wetlands and see alligators, turtles, and other wildlife.

  6. Carvers Creek State Park: Enjoy hiking, biking, or kayaking in this beautiful park, which features a historic plantation and a lake.

  7. Fayetteville Technical Community College: Take a tour of the college's aviation program and see the aircraft on display.

  8. Airborne & Special Operations Museum's Memorial Garden: Pay respects to fallen heroes at this beautiful memorial garden.

  9. Fayetteville's Historic District: Take a self-guided walking tour of the historic homes and buildings in the area.

  10. Golfing: Tee off at one of the many golf courses in the area, such as the Airborne & Special Operations Museum's golf course or the Cape Fear Country Club.

  11. Fayetteville's Farmers Market: Visit the weekly farmers market to sample local produce, baked goods, and crafts.

  12. Cumberland County Museum: Learn about the history of Cumberland County at this museum, which features exhibits on everything from Native American culture to the Civil War.

  13. Fayetteville's Downtown Market: Explore the shops, restaurants, and bars in downtown Fayetteville, which offers a lively atmosphere and plenty of entertainment options.

  14. Kayaking or Paddleboarding: Rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the Cape Fear River or nearby lakes and waterways.

  15. Fayetteville's Parks: Visit one of the many parks in the area, such as the Fayetteville Greenway Trail, the Cape Fear River Trail, or the J. Bayard Morris Park.

These are just a few of the many things to do near Pope Army Airfield in North Carolina. Depending on your interests and the time of year you visit, there may be other attractions and activities worth exploring.
