This week's featured Military lodging is the Navy Inn, previously Navy Gateway Inns & Suites, on Naval Station Newport in the charming state of Rhode Island. Newport Naval Station station sits on the beautiful Narragansett Bay, which has been referred to as ‘The Sailing Capital of The World’. Summer, and especially fall, are great times to visit New England and Aquidneck Island!
Located just 2.6 miles from Historic Downtown Newport, the types of rooms offered include standard or deluxe queens and standard suites. Rooms include a queen bed, private bath, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, flat screen TV. This is a pet friendly facility, but for a fee and some restrictions apply.

Newport is a fantastic little city, rich with history and plenty to do. While here, enjoy cobblestone streets or oceanfront walks. Admire turn-of-the-century Newport Mansions such as The Breakers or Marble house. Visit national historic landmarks like the Fort Adams State Park and the Naval War College Museum, visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Museum of Yachting and the Newport Art Museum or simply admire the wonderful sailing vessels—this is Newport.
