Magnolia Inn at Columbus AFB, MS | Featured Military Lodging Facility

This week’s featured lodging facility is the Magnolia Inn at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi! Reservations at the Magnolia Inn are welcome from active duty service members, National Guard service members, reservists, retirees, and their dependents. Also welcome at this facility are widows/ers Department of Defense-employed civilians, retirees, and 100% disabled veterans. Pets are welcome at this facility with an additional nightly fee.


Rooms at the Magnolia Inn include visiting officer quarters (VOQ), which include a bedroom, living room, private bath, and a laundry facility. Temporary lodging facilities (TLF) are three-bedroom duplexes with 1.5 bathrooms, a full kitchen, and laundry. VIP rooms are available to O6+, E9+ active duty military service members and retirees. Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance, but 30 days in advance for TLF. Shuttle service is also available.


The Magnolia Inn is a convenient option for visitors to Columbus, MS. Here are some things to do near the Magnolia Inn:

  1. Columbus Air Force Base: Take a tour of the base, which is home to the 14th Flying Training Wing and the 19th Student Squadron. Contact the base for tour information.

  2. Wings of Freedom World War II B-17: Visit the Wings of Freedom B-17 Flying Fortress, a historic bomber on display at the Columbus Air Force Base.

  3. Columbus Historic Downtown: Explore the charming downtown area, featuring shops, restaurants, and historic buildings. (5-minute drive from the Magnolia Inn)

  4. Tishomingo State Park: Enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, or camping at this scenic park, located about 20 minutes from the Magnolia Inn.

  5. Golden Triangle Regional Airport: Take a short drive to the airport and explore the exhibits at the Golden Triangle Regional Airport Museum.

  6. Columbus Museum: Learn about the region's history and culture at this museum, featuring exhibits on art, science, and local history. (10-minute drive from the Magnolia Inn)

  7. Golfing: Tee off at one of the nearby golf courses, such as the Columbus Country Club or the Golden Triangle Golf Course.

  8. Columbus Riverwalk: Take a leisurely stroll along the Tombigbee River on the Columbus Riverwalk, a 1.5-mile path suitable for walking, jogging, or biking.

  9. Kemper County Museum: Visit this museum in nearby DeKalb, Mississippi, to explore the region's history, agriculture, and industry. (30-minute drive from the Magnolia Inn)

  10. Local restaurants: Savor Southern cuisine at local eateries like the Columbus Café, the Depot, or the Old Mill Restaurant, all within a short drive from the Magnolia Inn.
