Dover Air Force Base, DE | Featured Military Space-A Air Terminal of the Week

Are you familiar with Space-A Air out of Dover, DE? Dover Air Force Base is one of the busier AMC terminals of the east coast of the United States. Dover AFB is a great place to catch a hop overseas! Note: overseas travel via Space-A is limited to Active Duty and Retirees, see below.*

If you've been following our Space-A Roll Call posts, you'll see that a common destination from Dover is Ramstein Air Base in Germany, with at least 2-3 flights headed that way on a weekly basis. Lately there have been many open seats, as well (subject to change during the busy PCS season, of course).

Some other destinations recently have been Norfolk, VA, Westover, MA, MacDill, FL, Lackland, TX, and even all the way to the west coast, landing at Travis AFB in CA and JB Elmendorf-Richardson in AK. Occasionally you'll find a flight headed to Hawaii, too.

Either way, it's almost a guaranteed hop to get to Europe. Once you're at Ramstein, the possibilities are endless! As long as you have an open mind and flexible schedule, Dover AFB offers a lot of chances to get you on a great adventure.

While waiting to see if you made the roll call, there is a USO available, located on your immediate left upon entering the passenger terminal. The USO is open Mon-Fri 0800-2000 and Sat-Sun 0800-1700 (UTA Weekends Only). Shuttle Service is available from the PAX terminal to Eagles Rest Inn, but will cost you $25 per person. Long-term parking is available, with a permit from the PAX terminal, and is only a short walk away. The base ITT also has services that offer rides to nearby airports, but can cost you a pretty penny.

*Note: Overseas travel via Space-A is only for Active Duty and Retirees, and occasionally spouses in specific circumstances. Please see the DoDI 4515.13 for more information on Space-A eligibility, in table 3 on page 37.
