With well over 1,000 military base fitness centers on bases throughout the U.S. and overseas, getting in shape has never been easier or affordable. Active duty military, spouses, dependents and retirees alike have access to manage their own health and wellness through a variety of classes, activities and equipment.
Many of the facilities offer patrons indoor gymnasiums, racquetball courts and a great selection of regularly scheduled fitness classes including water aerobics for those locations with indoor pools (which are plentiful)! Wallace Fitness Center, Camp LeJeune, NC
Fort RuckerĀ Alabama: Fitness Center offers an indoor pool, three racquetball courts, outdoor and indoor multi-purpose fields/courts and more within a 64,000 square foot facility. PFC Indoor Pool offers SCUBA training, open swim, lap swims and lifeguard training. Seasonal outdoor pool and Splash Park also offer activities.
Edwards Air Force Base, California: Fitness Center offers daily aerobics classes, racquetball courts, indoor multi-purpose court, outdoor running track, bike trails, organized runs and more. Oasis Aquatic Center offers open swim and lap swim, as well as providing two outdoor seasonal pools.
Pensacola Naval Air Station, Florida: MWR offers five fitness centers on base, offering a variety of cardio classes, racquetball courts, dedicated spin studio, sauna services and a Navy Wellness Center with dedicated staff members to ensure quality of life improvement. NAS Indoor Pool offers aquatic classes, lap swim, swim lessons, youth swim teams and lifeguard training.
Portside Fitness Center, Pensacola NAS, FL
Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Illinois: MWR offers four family-friendly fitness centers offering many fat-burning cardio classes, a full weight room, yoga, Zumba, family Basketball Night, as well as racquetball/wallyball courts, climbing wall and more in Courts Plus.
Fort Campbell, Kentucky: MWR offers seven fitness centers and the Estep Wellness Center (with a hot tub) offering circuit training, cardio areas, multi-purpose rooms, group classes, saunas, indoor and outdoor facilities, running tracks as well as seasonal outdoor pools and an indoor pool facility which is currently closed for renovations.
Gulfport NCBC, Mississippi: MWR Fitness Center offers a variety of weekly classes including Silver Pilates, Pre/Post-Natal Group Class, Zumba and Yoga as well as multi-purpose courts, an Olympic weight room, cycling room, outdoor softball fields and a running track. Nutritional guidance and personal training available on site as well as a relaxing steam room and sauna. Year-round heated outdoor pool also available.
Camp LeJeune Marine Corps Base, North Carolina: MCCS LeJeune-New River offers tenĀ fitness centers with a variety of activities including cardio rooms, group classes, personal fitness, multi-purpose rooms, racquetball courts, aerobics studio, climbing ropes and walls, indoor running track and an outdoor turf training area. Special classes for couples, events and 5k runs also offered. Indoor pools offer lifeguard training, swim lessons and how-to aquatic classes.
Wallace Creek Fitness Center, Camp LeJeune, NC
Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina: FSS Fitness Center and annex offer cardio equipment, multi-purpose courts, racquetball courts, tennis courts, outdoor sports fields, aerobic classes, parent fitness room with childcare, running track, outdoor running trails and saunas. Outdoor pool offers seasonal fitness classes as scheduled.
Fort Belvoir, Virginia: MWR offers five fitness centers with cardio equipment, multi-purpose courts, spin bikes, tennis courts, rock walls, aerobic classes, obstacle course, runs and events, saunas, steam rooms, intramural sports, pick-up games and personal training. Benyaurd indoor pool offers fitness classes, swim lessons, lifeguard training as well as two seasonal outdoor pools.
Graves Fitness Center, Fort Belvoir, VA
Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Washington: MWR Fitness Center offers a variety of programs, classes and services to include fitness assessments. Extensive cardio and strength training equipment, multi-purpose indoor courts, outdoor softball fields, football fields, soccer fields, outdoor running track, running trails, racquetball courts and tennis courts are available. Boxing Judo room, family fitness center, group classes, specialty classes, fun runs and personal training are also offered.
