Brentwood, TN | Featured Military Retirement Location

Updated: Jun 20, 2022

This week’s featured retirement location is Brentwood, TN. A south suburb of Nashville,

Brentwood is a small city with a slightly below-average cost of living and real estate prices.

Brentwood has a low crime rate, is close to Nashville International Airport (BNA), and has several highly-ranked hospitals.

However, Brentwood is a moderate distance from military treatment facilities and benefits such as MWR or a commissary. Current military bases with facilities are Arnold AFB about 70 miles southwest, and Fort Campbell, seventy miles northwest of town. We believe the quality of life gained by living in such a well-positioned city far makes up for it.

The city has plenty of entertainment. For younger kids, check out Defy, an Extreme Air Sports Trampoline Park that includes zip-lining into a foam pit, or for more old-school amusement, a skating rink is located on the northern end of town!

For the more outdoor-oriented crowd, there is plenty of local park like Marcella Vivrette Smith Park (home of the Ravenswood Mansion), or Owl Creek Park a grassy park with a playground, picnic shelters, and walking paths.

The area is home to an interesting art museum, nearby Franklin offers Gallery 202, a wide range of art and antique gallery. Civil war history is alive as well with the Lotz House museum and Carnton, the site of an 1864 battle. Fort Donelson National Battlefield is less than 100 miles away.
