This week’s Featured Lodging Facility is the Lake Front Cottages on Brown Lake at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in Oklahoma! The Lake Front Cottages and McAlester Army Ammunition Plant are located about 85 miles south of Tulsa, in McAlester, and are a short drive south of I-40.
The Lake Front Cottages feature 11 fully furnished cabins, all located right on the banks of Brown Lake, offering beautiful lake views right from their covered porches. They come with HD TVs complete with satellite TV, Wi-Fi, fully furnished, linens and towels, and maid service. You’ll find around the property several picnic areas, all equipped with barbeque grills and tables. The cottages offer a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life, complete with everything you need to enjoy your getaway in comfort! There are 1-BR and 2-BR cottages available, and go for $70-$80 daily, depending on the number of bedrooms you have.
For things to do on base, you can check out the MCAAP Fitness Complex, or visit the Outdoor Recreation Center to rent some of the various watercraft and related equipment, or sports and recreation equipment they have to make your stay more exciting. Things to do in the area (aside from relaxing by the lake) include visiting historic McAlester Scottish Rite Masonic Temple and the Oklahoma State Penitentiary Museum, which chronicles famous inmates, early chain gangs and prison escapes. The nearby town of Krebs is known as Oklahoma’s Little Italy and is famous for its great cuisine.
