This week’s featured camping & RV getaway is the Barking Sands Beach Cottages in Hawaii! This lodging facility accepts reservations from active duty service members, retirees, and Department of Defense employed civilians. MWR, NEX and NAF employees and contractors working on base are also welcome. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance by active duty service members, all other guests can make reservations up to six months in advance.
The Barking Sands Beach Cottages offer 25 cottages total: 12 beachfront cottages, 12 ocean view cottages, and 1 VIP cottage. Cottages are fully furnished, including a washer and dryer and a full kitchen. Dishes, flatware and cookware are included in all cottages. Rates vary from $80 to $115 per day depending on the cottage rented.

Barking Sands Beach Cottages are located in Waimea, on the Big Island of Hawaii. This area is entirely different from the hustle and bustle of Oahu; the Big Island is quiet, peaceful, and full of untouched nature. Be advised that visitors to the Big Island are highly recommended to rent a car due to the amount of spread on the island of Hawaii. Support facilities near the Barking Sands Beach Cottages include an All Hands club, beach, driving range, exchange, outdoor adventure center, and theater. Activities available near the cottages include fishing, golfing, kayaking, swimming and tennis.
