sAnn and Tootie with
Dr. Gary Schrader

Tootie, a Toy Fox Terrier, has been a member of the Crawford family for the past 14 1/2 years. She has also served as the mascot of Military Living Publications™, and has even had an online column, “Tootie Talks” on Military Living’s® web site. She helped Military families and pets with her tongue-in-cheek replies to their questions about pets and the military life, such as travel, PCS, quarantine and more.

She was an excellent traveler, and went to far points such as New York, NY; Denver, CO; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Dallas, Texas; Quebec City, Canada and all over the southeast United States. Her favorite place, above all, was the beach at Sandbridge in Virginia Beach, VA. Tootie had flown on many airlines and her favorite was Jet Blue; they gave her flight wings on each of her trips which were proudly posted on her Sherpa bag!

Best of all, she was the proud protector and companion of Ann Crawford, Publisher of Military Living Publications. She may have been small (3-5 lbs.) but she had a mighty bark and a mean bite if anyone dared to mess with her Mema!

Tootie will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. She was the best of companions and a loyal friend. Tootie passed away 28 January 2008 in the presence of her family after an extended illness.

Her veterinarian was Dr. Gary Schrader, owner of Suburban Animal Hospital in Arlington, VA, telephone 703-532-4043. Dr. Schrader prepared a special treatment for Tootie which allowed her an extra year and half of life. The Crawfords were very grateful to have Dr. Schrader in Tooties' life.
